Web Page, Graphics, Flash Development

This entry is part 5 of 11 in the series Web Course Design

Development of the web pages, graphics, Flash assets, video, audio etc is the next phase in creating a web course.

Once the storyboard is approved, the development team takes over and creates all the assets required as per the details given in the storyboard.

If no LMS or CMS is used, the HTML pages are created and linked together via the navigational menu. You can go through the Dreamweaver tutorial on this website to learn how to create HTML pages and link them etc. The textual content for each page is put using the styles specified in the Interface design so that all the pages are consistent in look and feel. Some LMSs may allow you to create the HTML pages as per certain guidelines in page naming, SCORM compliance etc.

Graphics and diagrams will be designed using Image editors like Fireworks and Photoshop. These images will need to be optimized for the web. You can go though the Fireworks tutorial on this website to learn how to create graphics and optimize them for the web.

Flash assets of animations and interactivity are developed and integrated into the pages.

Video if required, will need to be captured, edited and compressed in formats that will play well on the web. Flash is often used for video as well.

Voice overs and music files may be created and integrated where required. Flash can be used for this too.

You can learn the basics of using Flash in a tutorial on this website.
