I use Wordpress (self-hosted) for this blog. The incredible thing about Wordpress is that it is so easy to install and its functionalities can be expanded so much via some fantastic free plugins.

Joomla is great for a site with plenty of articles. Check out EzBasicRecipes.info - I was able to add in a large number of recipes and articles in a short period of time.
