Article Length for Article Marketing
The length of an article will vary by topic and by article. Quality writing does not come with a certain number of words
The Internet and print media are very different things and this should be considered for your lengths (length of sentence, length of paragraph, and length of article overall).
If your article is too long you may have an impatient reader on your hands and they will click away from your website or page.
If your article is too short you may not have included enough detail to get your point across and the reader will click away in this case as well.
If you are submitting to a directory for article marketing puposes, or an ezine etc, check their submission guidelines as they may require a certain length of article, (for example they may only accept submissions over 350 words).
Some Tips to Keep in Mind for Optimal Article Lengths:
- Don't force length in your writing. If you've said everything that needs to be said and given your opinion there's no need to make repetitive paragraphs just to make it longer.
- A bulleted list of highlights can make a shorter article appear longer and fill up the page.
- If your article gets to be too long consider paginating it and adding >> next page navigation so that the reader is not in a constant state of scrolling.
- Another idea is to break it down into a series of articles to attract repeat visitation from the reader.
Number of Words Per Article
- 400 to 600 words is the average length web article, with the occassional pillar article leaning more toward the 600 and maybe going over quite a bit.
- The average blog posting is about 200 words
